Or <em>poaching<\/em> them?<\/p>\n<p>This is the dilemma lying behind this splendid painting that Diego Vel\u00e1zquez, a Spanish artist of the Baroque period, painted around 1618 when he was just 19 years old.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it is still the subject of disputes today whether the grandma is frying the eggs in olive oil, or, as some art scholars have recently written, the eggs are rather poached.<br \/>\nTo be precise: &#8220;<em>they are being cooked in water or broth<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway&#8230; if you want to admire this painting, go to the <em>Scottish National Gallery<\/em> in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to fry or poach eggs (or whatever you want), I have the right catering equipment for you!<\/p>\n<p>PS: the painting is (still) called &#8220;<strong>Old Woman Frying Eggs<\/strong>&#8220;[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text text_larger=&#8221;no&#8221;]Is the old lady frying the eggs?
