{"id":4209,"date":"2022-07-01T12:14:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T10:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.virdex.it\/2022\/07\/01\/gastrodiplomacy\/"},"modified":"2022-07-01T12:14:37","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T10:14:37","slug":"gastrodiplomacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.virdex.it\/en\/2022\/07\/01\/gastrodiplomacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Gastrodiplomacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text text_larger=&#8221;no&#8221;]Wouldn&#8217;t it be great if instead of sending tanks across the border, differences could be settled by cooking?<\/p>\n<p>This is the concept on which <strong>Gastrodiplomacy<\/strong> relies: \u201c<em>the use of food and cuisine as an instrument to create cross-cultural understanding in the hopes of improving interactions and cooperation<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>So, basically, a type of cultural exchange based on the typical dishes and gastronomic specialities of each country.<\/p>\n<p>The promotion of national cuisine by favouring not only the opening of new ethnic food restaurants abroad, but also lessons and seminars that go beyond the food aspect per se.<\/p>\n<p>Promoting one&#8217;s national culture, as well as get to know that of other states, through tastes and flavours.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, the <strong>national cuisine<\/strong> is the sum of the history, customs and heritage of a population.<\/p>\n<p>it is too optimistic to think that all differences can be resolved by sitting down at the table, we all agree on that.<\/p>\n<p>But if it is a way to promote dialogue, then why not?<\/p>\n<p>Na\u00efve, perhaps. But certainly, less stupid than making war.<\/p>\n<p>So, cook to build excellent relations with neighbouring states.
